Jun 21, 2019 Portable Game Console: Size at 12.3cm x5.6cm x 1.4cm. It is ideal for a quick pick up and plays. L&R buttons: Will offer you a better gaming experience on playing GBA/SNES games. Firmware Preinstalled: Equipped with 8GB micro SD card, latest firmware preinstalled. One will need a Third-Party Loader that supports automatic GBA ROM patching in order to load a GBA ROM from a DLDI compatible Slot 1 cart. GBA ROMs can be trimmed. Once the GBA ROMs and the necessary files for the Third-Party Loader are copied over to the slot-1 memory card, follow the instructions of the homebrew loader accordingly. Jun 17, 2019 The original DS and the DS Lite have a slot for GBA cartridges. The DSi, 3DS, New 3DS and 3DS/N3DS variants do not. All of them have a built in GBA, since each of them descend technology wise from the GBA. The 3DS/N3DS has a built in GBA cartridge. Because NDS hardware can only load GBA game from slot 2. You can however run an emulator on slot 1, such as the supercard DSTwo plug-in GBA emulators. I use the supercard DSTwo on my 3ds XL to play GBA games. Works well enough.

How to install the M3
You should have the following items in your possession:- a M3 SD, Mini-SD, Lite or CF adapter- a passkey or Passcard 3 (for DS Mode)- any SD/CF card writer- a SD, Mini-SD,MicroSD or CF card, FAT32 formatted (according to they type of M3 Adapter you have)- a Nintendo DS or DS Lite- the installation disc (if provided)- any Nintendo DS cartridge
If you miss any of these items, you will not be able to use all the features of your M3.
First step: installing the software. If you have the installation disc, insert it into your cd-rom drive. Browse the CD to find the folder 'GAME'. Inside this folder, you should find a 'M3 GAME Manager 2.2.exe' file. Double-click to open it. Click 'next' a few times when the window pops up, then 'Finish'. OK, you've successfully installed the M3 Game manager!
Second step: plug your SD/CF card writer to your computer. Insert your SD/CF card. It should create a new drive unit (ie. E:, F:, G: , H: ..). Now open the M3 game manager. You will be asked for your M3 adapter type (SD or CF). In my case it's SD.
Here is the main window of the client software:
On the left side, select the drive that corresponds to your SD/CF card.On the center, you can see the list of files that are on the drive you selected. On the right, the list of actions to perform:- Write NDS -> read part 2 of this 'how to'- Write GBA -> read part 3 of this 'how to'- Delete -> this will delete the files you selected in the list that is on the center of the window- Help -> this opens a text file, the M3 adapter manual

Frequently Asked Questions
First, we suggest you read the existing FAQs.- From the official website: http://www.m3adapter.com/faq.htm- From our partner shop: shop.01media.com / M3 FAQ- From Maxconsole.net: http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=11440
Q: How is the NDS rom compatibility of the M3?
The compatibility of Roms on the M3 is near 100%, It supports clean roms and can fully run them. Check the compatibility list here:http://m3wiki.com/index.php/Compatibility_ListsOne game which i have noticed, does not work is SnowBoarding. But im sure there is a patch for it.
Q: I can't get this rom #XXXX to work
Check this compatibility list:http://m3wiki.com/index.php/Compatibility_ListsIt will tell you what settings you should use for your specific game. You might have to upgrade the firmware of your M3 adapter. See the 'how to' guide, section 8, if you don't know how to upgrade the firmware. If you still can't get your rom to work, get another version of the rom.

Q: What's the cheapest place to buy a M3 ?
We don't know any single online shop, but though we highly recommend shop.01media.com, or realhotstuff.com reliable, online, shops with good prices and fast shipping.
Q: What's the difference between M3 SD and M3 CF ?
The M3 adapter was originally designed for CF cards only. The SD version is the same, although more recent. The only difference I've noticed is the design. The CF version is larger, because CF cards are large, while SD cards are tiny.I personnally prefer the SD version because you can remove the SD card from the M3 adapter without removing the M3 adapter from the NDS. With the CF version, you have to remove the M3 adapter from the NDS first and then you can remove the CF card.
Q: What settings should I select when writing a NDS rom?
We suggest you always use the default settings. If the game doesnt work with the default settings, check the compatibility list here:http://m3wiki.com/index.php/Compatibility_ListsFollow the instructions corresponding to the rom you're writing.
Q: How are the flashing times? Is it fast?
Actually it depends on your SD/CF card, your CF/SD writer and the USB socket type. If you have a USB 2 CF/SD writer, and a fast CF/SD card, it will be fast. My personal flashing times are: with a no-name USB1.1 CF/SD writer, a PNY 128MB card, writing a 64 megabytes (=512 Mbits) game => 1 min 50 seconds (110s).
Q: I have a new NDS, is the M3 compatible with it ?
Download Gba Game Files
The PassMe that is currently supplied with M3 adapters are not compatible with new NDS. Thus you need to acquire a Passme 2 in replacement for the Passkey supplied with the M3 adapter.
Q: Can you have multiple game saves on the M3 ?
The M3 can indeed have different save files for the same game. How does it work? Well, you need to play the game at least once so that the M3 creates one save file on the SD/CF card. Then, insert your SD/CF card into your SD/CF writer. On your PC, create a copy of the existing save file, and give it the name you want, the name doesn't matter.
Q: If the name of a save file doesn't matter, how can the M3 know what save should be loaded with a game?
Actually, it's quite simple. The format of M3 save files is: [ 256 kilobytes of save data ][ 1 kilobytes of M3 indexing data]. The save is then 257kb big. The indexing data stuff is the part where the M3 'writes' the filename of the rom. If you change the filename of a rom, the saves will not be 'recognized' anymore. If you rename it back to its old name, it will work again.
Q: Does the M3 adapter work with the GB Micro?
Yes it will! If you have the Lite version, a later included GBA cover is needed.

What Is YSMenu ?
YSMenu is a homebrew version of the ttmenu that loads faster than the original menu and looks similar to an unskinned r4 menu.
- Advantages of YSMenu over TTMenu:
- + It sorts the roms alphabetically (TTMenu sorts by order of installation)
- + It shows folders allowing you to organize your roms into separate 'Groups'
- (TTMenu shows all 'NDS' file in one long list [even 'plugins' from programs like moonshell2])
- + It attempts to patch the browser and GBA games without having to use a separate loader program
- + It runs emulated programs directly in the emulator in one step.
- Disadvantages of YSMenu over TTMenu:
- - Not graphically 'Pretty' (See DSTT Menu, YSMenu)
- - It doesn't support Multiple 'Skins/Themes' (It's possible using 3rd party Homebrew - see later)
- - Uses Official DSTT loaders - so any problems with DSTT then this will not fix them
- - Default Language/Help is Japanese, so some editing required to get English
Where do I get it?
YSMenu is created by Yasu who doesn’t want anyone to link to any pages other than his home page.
Yasu’s home page is http://home.usay.jp/. It's mostly in Japanese, but to get YSMenu, follow these directions:

Unfortunately YSMenu does not allow much in the way of customising Skins/Themes like a R4 or Acekard.
although it does allow you to have a different background showing on both screens.

To do this all that's needed is 2 pictures of size 256 x 192 labelled 'YSMenu1.bmp' (for the top screen) and 'YSMenu2.bmp' (for the bottom screen). These need to be placed in the 'YSMenu' folder on your MicroSD card
You can also alter the colours of the text used for Directory Path/File names etc by editing the 'YSMenu.ini' file also found in the YSMenu folderThe section required is

'YSMenu.ini' Options
Gba Games Download
- [YSMENU]
- You can change the language by place a ';' in front of any of the 'LITERALS=' to disable it & remove the ';' to enable it (As mentioned before in 'Setting up')
- Further down the file you will find sections labelled [LITERALS_???] (where ??? is a language e.g JAP).
- By altering the text to the right of the '=' You can get YSMenu to display whatever you like (e.g. if you change 'LOADING=Please Wait..' then YSMenu will show 'Please Wait..' instead of 'Loading..')
- In theory you could create additional languages by copying/Pasting an existing [LITERALS_???] section (Changing the section header to something else like '[LITERALS_GER]' for German) & changing the text in the section, then by adding a LITERALS=LITERALS_GER under [YSMENU]
- SORT_BY_TIME=
- Changing this to 'True' will cause the files to be shown depending upon the time they were last used instead of the normal 'alphabetically sorted'.
- In other words the games you play more often will appear near the top, while the lesser played ones are at the bottom. (this is determined by the game SAV time stamp)
- VERSION=
- Whatever is put here will replace the 'Yasu Software - YS menu' text @ the bottom of the touch screen.
- When touched - the version text will still be shown in Black ink though
- NO_DEL=
- Changing this to 'true' will prevent you from using the [X] button to delete files.
- Handy if you want to prevent any little ones from deleting your current SAV by mistake
- DEFAULT_DMA= / DEFAULT_RESET=
- Change from 'false' to 'true' (or 'true' to 'false') will cause all programs to have the appropriate option box ticked/unticked by default
- EXT_APP1_FILE= / EXT_APP1_NAME=
- This will cause an extra button to appear when you press [Start] for the 'Passme' / 'Boot GBA' option screen
- Clicking on the extra button will start the program mentioned in 'EXT_APP1_FILE'
- You can in fact have more than just the one extra button - Just by adding 'EXT_APP2_FILE=' and 'EXT_APP2_NAME=' (up to 'EXT_APP9_FILE'/'EXT_APP9_NAME')
- [FILETYPE]
- Adding a file format will allow that particular file to show up in YSMenu file browser (e.g. TXT/BMP/MP3 etc).
- Note that I haven't figured out how to launch an appropiate program for any additional formats or even if it's possible
- Some files have already been set up for GBA/NES/NeoGeo/Sega Master System and WonderSwan [?!?] emulation
- - these require additional programs installed into the YSMenu folder, along with a Slot 2 Flash card like the EZ3-in-1, to work
